Creates silly songs and dances

Situations for Observation of Skill

This is best observed in the classroom. Have a talent show in the classroom or home. Let children pick a partner or perform alone. They can sing, dance or make up a song with an instrument. Observe the child’s rhythm, ability to make up a tune and move to the beat.

Elicitation Strategy

The adult is the announcer, calling the child’s name and what she will do. The child can emerge from behind a curtain or sheet after her name is announced. Some children will be shy and want to be partnered with a more outgoing child.

Behavior Observed

The child will often be silly or make up songs or dances that are wild and funny to get people to laugh.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage parents to have talent shows at home. This is a fun way for children to build self-confidence. Parents can also pick out emerging talents that can be nurtured.
