Puts loose fitting boots on

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child in dramatic play where open front costumes, boots, and belts are available.

Elicitation Strategy

If needed, the adult can suggest the child try on a specific costume that has an open-front, a belt and boots (e.g., a fireperson’s or construction worker’s outfit).

Behavior Observed

The child puts on and removes different types of clothing and boots.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Early childhood educators and parents can give children opportunities to compare objects. For example, have activities involving sorting by size (at home, clothing from the dryer for different people), shape (at home, sorting types of clothing), and orientation (at home placing table utensils). Give children opportunities to manipulate objects with two sides. Practice folding paper or clothing, putting on seatbelts, etc.
