Observe the infant when supported in a sit on the adult’s lap.
Hold the infant under the arms in a sitting position, with back straight.
The infant sits in a supported position and examines the environment without having to lean his head or body against the parent or other support.
Encourage early childhood educators and parents to spend face-to-face time with the infant sitting on their laps. Infants will let the adult know when they have “had enough.”
