Situations for Observation of Skill

Place the child in an infant seat or high chair where she can see her environment.

Elicitation Strategy

Elicit sounds if needed by modeling and banging on the table as well.

Behavior Observed

Infant produces vowel sounds and early consonant sounds.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Inform parents that shaking and banging are the beginning of learning about how to impact the environment. It is also the beginning of learning about rhythm and beat. Play music and the whole family can bang a beat together. The infant will find this great fun!
