Vocalizes when asked a question

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the infant in interaction with the adult.

Elicitation Strategy

No elicitation needed.

Behavior Observed

The infant responds vocally to the raised inflection of the adult.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Infants recognize the different vocal patterns the adult uses. Asking questions uses an upward inflection at the end. Infants learn that this inflection requires a response. Early childhood educators and parents should continue the “conversation” as long as possible.
