Observe the child with objects like blocks=, hammer and ball toy, objects and bucket, etc.

Provide materials that can be combined or banged together.

Behavior Observed

Claps hands together in imitation. Brings toys together to see what happens.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Help early childhood educators and parents understand that once children know what toys do, they want to make something happen (banging together, pounding, dropping in, etc.) Learning what objects can do singly and when combined teaches the child about cause and effect, spatial relations, and sensory characteristics.
