Shows affection to dolls

Situations for Observation of Skill

Provide a small doll for the infant.

Elicitation Strategy

No elicitation needed.

Behavior Observed

Watch to see if the child hugs the doll.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Parents often do not realize that infants become interested in dolls at a very early age. Having a doll encourages nurturing behavior on the part of the infant. Explain that this is an important way for children to learn to share emotions in dramatic play.
