Observe the child moving into stand and playing with a toy.
Once the child is tired of the toy on the table, place a new toy on the floor.
The child can lower herself into sit from standing.
Children learn to change positions by practicing. They practice because they like the experience or they want something that requires them to move up or down. Encourage adults to help children practice up and down movements by having a reason to move. For example, place tub toys on the floor by the tub and ask the child to put them in the tub before a bath. The child will squat, pick up a toy, stand up and drop the toys in the tub one at a time.
