Vocalizes to music and tries to sing

Situations for Observation of Skill

Play familiar music and clap to the song. The child can be sitting or standing supported.

Elicitation Strategy

If the child doesn’t vocalize and move spontaneously, the adult can sing and dance and clap to motivate the child.

Behavior Observed

The child will typically move to the music and begin to vocalize. If seated, the child may clap.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Music can be an important part of family life, one that all family members can enjoy. Encourage parents to listen to all kinds of music and sing and dance to the rhythm.
