Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child playing with plastic bowls of different sizes.

Elicitation Strategy

No elicitation needed.

Behavior Observed

The child will bang the bowls and explore them. Once she discovers that one can go inside another, the in and out play will continue.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Let parents know that plastic kitchen materials and pots and pans make great toys and learning materials. They can be combined with other toys, so the child can explore putting things in and taking them out. Nesting is actually a math activity, demonstrating understanding of size relations.
