Removes second arm from coat

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child when getting ready to go outside and when coming in.

Elicitation Strategy

When coming in the adult starts to take off the child’s coat, then lets her finish.

Behavior Observed

Once one arm is free from a coat, the infant knows to pull out the other arm.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

When the child holds out a body part for dressing it is a good sign she is ready to help. Undressing precedes dressing, and the child can help out with each step. After one arm is out of a sleeve, let the child pull the other arm. Pull off the pants except for the last bit. For putting on, the child can pick up an item of clothing and help.
