Imitates adult’s scribbles

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child and adult with markers and paper.

Elicitation Strategy

The adult scribbles on the paper and hands the infant a pencil and paper. Both now scribble together.

Behavior Observed

The child watches the adult and then makes scribble marks on the paper.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage early childhood educators and parents to let children play with dry erase markers and boards, doodle boards, crayons and paper and sidewalk chalk. Children like to scribble and make marks with stamps as well.
