Observe the child approaching a child-sized chair.
No elicitation needed.
The child loves to have a real chair to sit in, and now has the motor skills to approach the chair, turn her body, aim her bottom without looking, bend and sit.
Provide options for the child’s sitting in play. Early childhood educators and parents can encourage children to sit on pillows, in adult chairs, child chairs, high chairs, and benches. All require the child to make slight motor adjustments and use motor planning.
