Observe the child in play with toys on the floor.
No elicitation needed.
The infant moves up and down in a variety of ways.
Encourage parents to involve infants in daily chores, (e.g., pulling clothes out of the dryer, picking up toys, getting pots out of the cupboard, throwing diapers in a diaper pail or trash, etc.) These activities require using a sequence of movements that build balance, strength, and coordination. Children love helping, and they’re practicing motor skills at the same time!
