Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child and adult with markers and paper.

Elicitation Strategy

The adult scribbles on the paper and hands the child a pencil and paper. Both now scribble together.

Behavior Observed

The child watches the adult and then makes scribble marks on the paper.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage early childhood educators and parents to let children play with non-toxic markers and boards, doodle boards, crayons and paper and sidewalk chalk. Children like to scribble and make marks with stamps.
