Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child when fast, loud music is played versus quiet, gentle music.

Elicitation Strategy

Play different types of music (rock versus lullaby; salsa or reggae versus classical).

Behavior Observed

The infant makes more active movements with the louder, faster beat and slower movements with the softer music.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage parents to expose their child to different types of music. Expanding their repertoire will help them develop an appreciation for different patterns later.
