Remembers short action sequences

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child in adult-child song and action sequences. The adult may have a familiar sequence they can demonstrate.

Elicitation Strategy

Teach the child a short song and body action sequence. For example, “This is the way we wash our face, wash our face” (pretending to wash).

Behavior Observed

The child remembers and demonstrates the actions while the adult sings.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage parents to learn simple children’s songs and finger plays. Provide them with online resources they can use. Learning actions sequences helps children remember songs and is a motivator for learning new songs.
