Experiments with different types of movements

Situations for Observation of Skill

Play a variety of types of music, fast and slow, rock and classic. Have fun putting on performances for each other.

Elicitation Strategy

Children love to put on a show, so take turns demonstrating your moves. This will encourage the child to do different things with each trial.

Behavior Observed

The child can now kick, turn, wave her arms, and move in different directions. She can also move to the tempo of the music.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

As balance increases children get wilder. They feel safe, so they try new things. If there are siblings, encourage parents to have talent nights. Parent can be announcers, play the music, and introduce the acts. Children are then engaging in song, dance, and dramatic play. A great combination for creativity!
