Situations for Observation of Skill

Provide a book with pictures of babies of different races to show the child.

Elicitation Strategy

Ask the adult to slowly share the book with pictures of babies of different races. Hold the picture of a child of the child’s race next to the picture of the baby of a clearly different race.

Behavior Observed

The child looks longer at children of another race.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Children see racial differences at a very early age. At this age there is no judgment, just awareness.
