Sing a song and ask the child to play the drum to the song.

The child is beginning to pick up rhythmic patterns and beats in songs, music, and dance.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage parents to sing and dance with their child. Explain the relationship of beats in music to patterns in math and rhythms in reading. Music can help lay a foundation for both
