Have a variety of small colored blocks or large beads with string for making a necklace.
Suggest making a train or a necklace of different colors to make a pattern.
The child will make arrangements of blocks in a sequence. She will be able to name the color sequence and call it a pattern.
Encourage early childhood educators and parents to point out patterns in the child’s clothing, in foods, etc. The more early childhood educators and parents point out these details, the more the child will notice them independently and want to share her observations.
