Produces vocalizations and shakes sound toys

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child with a rattle.

Elicitation Strategy

The infant may vocalize independently, but may be more vocal with an adult model. The adult should provide wait time after vocalizing.

Behavior Observed

The infant may coo and shake his arms.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage parents to play rhythmic music and move the infant’s hand with the beat. Then release the child’s hand and see if the child repeats the action. Music may encourage children to move.
