Observe the infant interacting with the various family members during daily routines.

The infant reacts differently with Mom (calmer body movements) and Dad (more active body movements) and siblings (more excitement and staring).
Help parents understand that based on how family members interact with the infant, the infant’s response will be different. They already know that Mom is (typically) the primary caretaker and comforter, while Dad likes to move and interact in more intense interactions. The same is true for siblings, who are closer in size to the infant, and thus interesting.
