Observe the infant lying on his back or in the adult’s arms.
No elicitation needed.
The infant moves fingers of both hands over clothing or a blanket feeling the texture.
Children begin to notice different textures in their clothing, blanket, toys, bottle, etc. Tactile exploration should be encouraged. Explain how children’s grasp starts with a reflex and tactile interest.
