“Sings” along with familiar songs

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the infant when the adult is singing to her.

Elicitation Strategy

The adult sings a familiar song the infant has heard many times.

Behavior Observed

The infant tries to make sounds using the musical intonation.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage early childhood educators and parents to sing to the infant frequently. Singing encourages the use of a variety of sound patterns and changing intonation.
