Observe the child on his stomach moving into all fours, then into sit.
When the child is on hands-and-knees, hold a toy in front of the child, then move it around his head and back so he needs to sit back to reach it.
The child will look up, rotate, and push back into sit to reach for the toy.
Children have different patterns of movement, so note differences, but if movement is functional, that is what is important. Let early childhood educators and parents know that they can support the development of motor skills by giving the child lots of opportunities and reasons to move. Encourage them to motivate children to move by using objects or toys they want in different positions.
