The child makes word approximations (“ga” for dog)
Help parents understand the language learning progression, so they can understand where the child is developmentally and model the next step. For example, if the child is repeating syllables to make a word, the adult acknowledges the child’s meaning (“You want water,”) and models the sound sequence (“Wa-TER.”)
