Provide paper and a crayon.
Make a mark on the paper to demonstrate that the crayon leaves a mark.
The child bangs or drags the crayon on the paper.
Exposure to markers and paper encourages children to discover cause and effect, which is the beginning of motivating them to want to learn to write.
